Can you recommend anywhere somewhat near I80 to grab a hotel for the night? Doin early research for a trip and that’s the general area for one of the stops. Every town that looks to be somewhat promising location wise ends up sounding pretty high crime. Literally anywhere from say Youngstown to Brookville.

    Not Youngstown though. Yikes.

There are lot more motels along that strip of I 80 in western PA than there used to be. Pretty much any exit or at least every other exit now has a motel. Clarion, PA (about 70 miles into PA) has some chains like Hampton Inn, etc. DuBois, PA is about 100 miles into PA and is also good.

Another good place is Niles OH, west of Youngstown where I-80 and I-76 meet. (OH-46). lots of motels at lots of different price points there.

I've stayed in a number of these over the years, never felt unsafe. One trip I parked the R6 outside and slept in the hotel - no issue

Just stay at a nice hotel, Hampton is usually clean and safe. I's rather stay in a nice hotel in a shitty neighborhood, than a shitty hotel in a good hood.

Thanks Beac. Clarion looking like it fits the bill.

True, true. I’m not really concerned with my personal safety, moreso the bike in the parking lot overnight deal.

I think the better places have cameras, better lighting, maybe even security. Is your bike in an enclosed trailer?

Maybe someone will chime in and let you store your trailer with them for the night.

I’m taking a bike trip with a few buddies, no trailers. I do 2-3 every year normally, this is only my second time out east though. Pretty unfamiliar.

Question....Why the hell are you on Rt 80 with a bike? Head north a little and get on rt6 to cross PA, much betterer.

Its kind of a long dumb story, but that’s the first leg of our trip and unfortunately at that stage, it’s a large group and most of the group’s sentiment is ‘let’s just get there.’ We’re at a somewhat forced stop the next day in Norwalk, CT. After that I’m just gonna cherry pick places I’d like to ride to, I’m sure I’ll be able to convince a few buddies from the group to join.

Im sure you’re right tho. That does look much better. Hmm.

Damn, completely forgot about this, if you can make it to DuBois, stay here
    Comfort Suites
10 Lakeside Ave, DuBois, PA 15801
They are very welcoming to bikes, covered bike parking right in front of the building.
Stayed here with a group before, nice place.

If you are traveling alone on a bike, you can often ask if you can park the bike close to the entrance overnight. Bu asking nicely, I've been able to do thia a nuber of times. Failing that, ask for a 1st floor room and park the bike right outside the window.

In a group, rooms where you park right outside the window are good. Best if they are in a well-lit part of the lot.

Or park your 86 Honda VF1000r in your room:D
That's what I did once, in Atlanta, spur of the moment decision to ride down for an IndyCar race. I didn't like the vibe at the hotel, so I pushed it into the room. The smell of burnt rubber and gas put me to sleep.

I once checked into a small hotel in Grey Bull, WY. The owner/proprietor looked at my leathers and said "you're on a bike?"
    me: Yes
Him: I don't allow bikes in the room
    Me: yes sir

We ended up sharing a beverage and chatting into the dusk. He then told me I could put the bike on the sidewalk right under my window if it doesn't drip.

Turned out to be a good evening. He pointed me to some good food in town.

    Solid.

Thanks to @Motofun352 advice we’re heading North and picking up 6 from there anyway.

We’ll be based in Norwalk for three days. I’m thinking of heading north and staying in Portland Maine one night. Worth it?
